About Clay & Company
Our Story
Clay & Company evolved from Claire Willis Pottery, initially based in Claire's garage in Deerfield. As classes expanded, a longtime student, Marcela Sztainberg, became a trusted partner. Together, they are enhancing the pottery community in Deerfield by offering a new space with 17 wheels, additional ceramics workshops, and a beautiful gallery called The Nest. This initiative is set to foster even more artistic expression and provide ample room for pottery enthusiasts to thrive in the vibrant scene of pottery in Chicago.
Our Approach
Our ceramics workshops in Chicago are student-guided, placing a strong emphasis on artistic expression and creative exploration. Students are encouraged to develop their skills through guided practice, allowing their artistic potential to emerge in the realm of pottery. A core tenet of the studio is the belief that education through sensory experience leads to a deeper understanding of the material, the process, and of oneself.
